A couple of weeks ago the Sheffield Formula Racing team finished 9th out of 130 university teams from over 30 countries across the world in the final competition at Silverstone, this is the teams third best result.
The competition enables visitors can get up close and personal with some phenomenal combustion, electric, hybrid and autonomous racing cars, built entirely by students who just might go on to design, build or race the cars of the future.
Doncaster based, Agemaspark, have been sponsors of the team for 10 years, in the weeks before the competition Agemaspark manufactured a new diff plate for the team due to a last-minute breakage during testing for the Silverstone final.
Will Jones, Marketing and Communications Lead and Chassis Engineer said “The rain on Saturday set every team back and fortunately for us we had a well-protected system and received no critical damage, we did however loose valuable testing time and the car had a couple minor issues that left us short in the final endurance event. The team is however extremely proud of our achievements this year and are excited to continue with exciting and ambitious plans to start the build of our first fully carbon fibre monocoque for next years car.”
Paul Stockhill, Managing Director at Agemaspark said “We are delighted to see the team do well this year, it is a great programme that helps develop the next generation of engineers coming through into the sector. Programmes like this are important to give young people real world experience in developing the innovative technology and business skills they need in their future careers.”
